Josh & Kelsey’s Jewish Wedding at Desert Botanical Garden | Phoenix, Arizona

There are weddings that are beautiful, and then there are weddings that are deeply meaningful. Josh and Kelsey’s wedding at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona was both—an intentional, heartfelt celebration that honored faith, family, and cultural heritage in one of the most stunning desert settings in the Southwest.

As an Arizona wedding photographer, Desert Botanical Garden is always one of my favorite venues to photograph. The towering saguaros, warm desert light, and natural textures create a timeless backdrop—especially for a couple like Josh and Kelsey, whose connection was effortless and genuine from the very beginning.

A Jewish Ceremony Beneath the Arizona Sky

Josh and Kelsey’s ceremony took place beneath a beautifully crafted chuppah, symbolizing the home they are building together. Surrounded by desert flora and the soft glow of Phoenix sunlight, the chuppah stood as a powerful visual reminder of tradition meeting place.

Their Jewish ceremony was emotional and reverent, filled with moments of laughter, quiet reflection, and deep connection. As Kelsey walked down the aisle, the desert seemed to pause—every eye drawn to the joy and anticipation shared between them. Photographing this moment, framed by cactus and sky, was something truly special.

The First Kiss, Breaking the Glass & A Celebration of Cultures

After Josh and Kelsey shared their first kiss as husband and wife, Josh broke the glass, a meaningful Jewish tradition symbolizing both remembrance and the fragility of life. The moment was met with cheers, applause, and pure celebration from their family and friends.

But the ceremony didn’t stop there.

In a beautiful and intentional nod to Kelsey’s African heritage, Josh and Kelsey included a jumping the broom ceremony immediately following the breaking of the glass. This powerful tradition represents unity, respect for ancestors, and the sweeping away of the old as they step together into a new life.

Watching them jump the broom together—joyful, confident, and fully present—was one of the most memorable moments of the day. It was a perfect example of how weddings can honor multiple cultures in a way that feels seamless, respectful, and deeply personal.

From intimate portraits among the cacti to candid moments shared with loved ones, the Desert Botanical Garden offered endless opportunities for authentic, natural imagery. Josh and Kelsey embraced the setting fully—laughing together, holding hands beneath the desert sky, and soaking in every moment of their wedding day.

The combination of Jewish tradition, African cultural elements, and the raw beauty of the Arizona desert made this wedding incredibly meaningful to photograph. It was a reminder of why I love what I do—capturing stories that are not only beautiful, but deeply human.

A Wedding Rooted in Love & Legacy

Josh and Kelsey’s wedding was more than a ceremony—it was a celebration of heritage, unity, and intentional love. From the chuppah to the broom jump, every moment reflected who they are and the life they’re building together.

Josh and Kelsey, thank you for trusting me to document your wedding day. It was an honor to photograph your story at one of Arizona’s most iconic venues.
